Latex knowledge
Latex is natural rubber and therefore vegan and natural.
A particular attraction of latex is its smooth, shiny surface.
However, this also requires regular maintenance, otherwise it will look dull and the material will stick together.
Chlorination of latex chemically changes the surface. As a result, the material appears to have a semi-gloss to semi-gloss finish and is a little less elastic.
Instead, the surface no longer sticks together, but rather glides against each other like nylon. Chlorination is highly recommended for my street style collection and latex bed linen.
Another important feature of chlorinated latex is that it can no longer be glued or only after intensive pretreatment. This can be a disadvantage even with a minor repair.
Ultimately, however, both variants need care. Even if the shine is not in the foreground with chlorinated latex, VIVISHINE care products prevent it from getting a gray haze.
Tips for handling chlorinated latex
the latex needs internal protection from silicone oil
either rinse in water with a little silicone oil after each wash or
After a few uses, spread enough silicone oil on the latex, put it in a garbage bag or a bucket and let it soak in
if the latex is to have a stronger shine, silicone oil can be applied thinly
chlorinated latex can also be switched to the wool program in 5 minutes be dried in the tumble dryer
if you add soft cloths to it, it has a polishing effect
Without a tumble dryer, drying stains can be avoided with a towel
Breathable garment bags are suitable for storage
So that the latex glides over the skin when you put it on, the skin and the latex should always be completely dry
Light, oils and deodorant also destroy chlorinated latex in the long run
larger items of clothing that have little tendency to "slip" are particularly suitable (e.g. catsuits, shirts or coats)
Stockings, mini skirts, short latex dresses or latex leggings can easily slip down due to the particularly smooth surface of the chlorinated latex
Tip: Fold the edge of stockings about 10 cm and moisten with a little water. After kicking back, the water acts as a bonding agent and the stockings no longer slip
benefits
Chlorination increases the comfort significantly
the surface is protected by the special treatment
the durability of the latex increases significantly
minimal maintenance
putting them on and taking them off is a breeze
There is no need to apply silicone or powder when putting on
Several layers of latex can slide on top of each other without any problems
the drying time is only a few minutes
chlorinated latex is suitable or at least better suited for allergy sufferers
disadvantage
Repair of latex clothing is made difficult / impossible
only thick latex clothing can be repaired satisfactorily using the "grinding method"
Latex clothing changes its feel, it becomes firmer and stiffer
At first this effect is clearly noticeable - if you wear it for a longer time, the material becomes a little softer again
Due to the changed feel, the chlorinated latex appears subjectively thicker (0.25 mm latex feels like 0.35 mm latex, for example)
the original smell disappears and is replaced by a new, more “industrial” one
Initially, a residual chlorine odor may be noticeable, but it will disappear completely
