Latex Care and Repair

Preserving the beauty of the material

Care of lined latex jackets

You have purchased a luxurious, unique item that was made in Germany. A piece of clothing made from natural rubber needs just as much care as clothing made from leather. Care for your latex jacket by rubbing it with a care product from time to time. Vividress, for example, is suitable for this because it is quite thin and please do not forget the edges when caring for the jacket.

The jacket can be washed by hand with suitable products. We recommend the products from Vivishine. After rinsing, add a splash of latex care oil to warm water and agitate the jacket in the water for a few minutes. Then allow it to dry thoroughly and turn it over once completely. Please make sure that the pocket bags also dry from the inside. I like to put paper from a paper towell in the pockets, which absorbs the water.

Important: do not use any other oils and do not leave in the sun.

Care of “DELUXE” and “VELVETY” latex bed linen

The only difference between the two materials is that the fabric dries much longer than the latex.

Hand wash

  1. For hand washing, it is best to use a plastic tub, which can then be easily cleaned by rinsing. Special latex care products are available on the market, such as Vivishine products. Alternatively, you can also use mild shampoo or liquid soap, but without skin-care additives.

  2. Now place the latex bed linen in sufficiently warm water with the detergent and wash it through. Then rinse with clear water and place in warm water again, adding a few drops of Vivishine (alternatively pure silicone oil viscosity 50).

  3. If you shake out the bed linen well before hanging it up, you will avoid the build-up of oily water droplets. And don’t forget to turn the covers over so that they can also dry well on the inside.

Washing machine

  1. Washing in the washing machine is also possible. To do this, close the zippers so that they do not scratch the latex. Latex is heavy, do not put too much in the drum.

  2. Put the detergent in the detergent compartment and a few drops of Vivishine in the fabric softener compartment.

  3. Then start the wool program at 40°. Then dry as described above.

  4. To clean the washing machine of the silicone oil, I wash a load of towels at 60°.

Your latex bed linen will now have a nice shine and will be stored in a dark place until the next use.

Things to know

  • Too much direct sunlight can dull latex, so please do not leave your garment in the sun.
  • We have subjected the latex marble from Rosengarn to long tests and it is less sensitive to sunlight and is therefore particularly recommended for jackets.
  • Please be careful with sharp objects such as fingernails and jewelry. Latex is very robust due to its elasticity, but a small hole is enough to cause it to tear.
  • Fats, perfumes, oils and some metals (e.g. copper, brass, bronze) react with latex, so direct contact should be avoided.
  • The exact name of the latex is PVultex PVML and comes from Thailand
  • The linings are usually made of easy-care polyester
  • We generally buy the accessories from manufacturers/suppliers in Germany. For special requests from our customers, we scour the internet to obtain the desired item.

General care tips for latex clothing

  • Lightly powdered or treated with silicone oil, store in a dry and dark place
  • Do not leave in the sun
  • Store latex clothing in light colors separately
  • Caution: metal leaves ugly stains on light-colored latex
  • Wash latex worn on the skin as soon as possible
  • Do not use baby oil or other greasy products
  • We recommend the products from Vivishine

Washing and drying latex

You should always wash all items that you have worn next to your skin after each use. This removes sweat, grease and skin flakes, of which we lose quite a few every day. Washing also removes silicone oil or talcum powder that you have applied for dressing and undressing.

Just as there are many different fetishes, there are different preferences when it comes to cleaning latex clothing. Machine washing is just as possible as washing by hand.

  1. It is best to use a plastic tub for hand washing, which can then be easily cleaned by rinsing.

  2. Special latex care products, such as those from Vivishine, are particularly suitable for washing and care. Alternatively, you can also use mild shampoo or liquid soap, but without skin-care additives.

  3. Now place the latex clothing in sufficiently warm water with the detergent and wash it through. Then rinse with clear water and place in warm water again, adding a few drops of Vivishine (alternatively pure silicone oil viscosity 50 to 100).

  4. If you shake out your clothes well before hanging them up, you will avoid the build-up of oily water droplets. Milky stains often remain, especially on transparent latex. These are water spots. But they will disappear again once your good piece has dried.

  5. And, very importantly, don’t forget to turn the clothes inside out so that they can dry properly on the inside. In addition, open all zippers and check whether the pocket bags are dry.

Your latex clothing now has a nice shine and will be stored in a dark place until the next use.

If you prefer to use powder, do not use any kind of oil. After rinsing the latex items with clear water, allow them to dry well and then lightly powder them so that they do not stick together. This is easy to do if you put the items in a plastic bag with a little perfume-free powder, or even better talcum powder, hold it tightly closed and shake it until all areas are lightly covered. Don’t forget to turn them over once in between, as both sides need to be well cared for.

Latex repair

An oversight or the famous fingernail. One tear and the item is ruined. Bring or send us the items to be repaired and briefly describe what needs to be done. The damaged parts should be washed and lightly powdered, then it is best to work on them.

To ensure that the process runs smoothly, we ask you to fill out the form in this link. There you will be asked for your address and your request. I will then receive your details by e-mail.

We will then prepare a cost estimate and repair the item once the order has been confirmed. We will send it back to you or you can collect it from the workshop.

If you would like to repair your items yourself, you can find useful information here.
